This feeder really does attract a wide variety of birds, and mammals. If you set it on the ground, you're mostly going to be feeding the squirrels. However, it is mountable on the straight-n-sturdy post. But in time, moisture (rain) will weaken the mount and it will fall off. It is essential, therefore, to keep squirrels and other rodents off of the feeder because they're too heavy for the feeder to endure. You will need a squirrel baffle and must locate your feeder at least 5 feet away from any tall shrubbery so the squirrels can't jump to it.

I just received this feeder and I love it! I have priced similar feeders at 80 dollars and up, so I was thrilled to find this here at a great price!!! I am going to put a clear sealer on it, however, as it is raw unfinished wood and would do better in the elements with a sealer....Highly recommended-You will not find a better price!
