Better than suet
Reviewed By:
Patricia Norris (Vero Beach, FL)
Much less messy than suet, and I can use these even in the heat of the Florida spring time. Who knows, I may be able to use this in summer time too, with some care. I have experienced no waste, as compared with suet. I couldn't even think about feeding suet in the spring time or summer here in southern Florida, but I am feeding the grub cakes. The cardinals and woodpeckers really seem to enjoy these. The cardinals are feeding this, along with the Bird Grub caterpillars and live mealworms to their young this year. I also had painted buntings and a single male indigo bunting that ate the grub cakes. I will definitely continue to buy these.

healthy for birds

The birds love these cakes and they don't melt and get soggy in the heat. Woodpeckers are crazy about them. I feel better about giving the birds a helthier suet cake too. Squirrels don't like the peppery taste, but they will devour conventional suet. Which makes this choice a no-brainer.
