In the beginning I was having trouble with starlings and larger birds. Then I got an idea. My neighbor is good with woodwork and we decided to half the hole with a small piece of plywood inside the feeder. As you can see I've ordered my second feeder, as the wood is getting weather beaten. You still will have some sparrows that can be a problem(nests in the feeder) just take it down for a day or too. You will also get wrens, but their not a problem. The starlings can still get their bills in but if you put the worms in the center of the feeder it discourages them and they go away. - Friday, April 03, 2009Disappointing product Reviewed By: Isobel Chowanec (Johnston, Iowa) I agree with the previous review. My husband bought this bluebird feeder as a surprise for me, but assembly was most definitely not "a snap" because the holes for the screws were misaligned, the wood was very rough and, to cap it all, starlings are now enjoying the very expensive grubs and bluebird food despite the entryways being described as, and I quote, "allowing access to bluebirds--but not to bigger birds like starlings". This feeder is very disappointing and I would not recommend it; it is definitely not worth the price of $64.99. - Monday, March 23, 2009Not Worth It Reviewed By: Michael Loser (Dover, PA) This product is not worth the price. The pre-drilled holes did not align properly with each other, the plexiglass sides did not fit properly without some work, and the holes at the end do not prevent starlings from leaning almost the whole way into the middle of the feeder. It does not prevent them from getting to the food. This is a very disappointing product. Read More Reviews |
