Exclusive! A great choice for the economy-minded birder. Space several of these red cedar nest boxes 25' apart and string nesting materials from nearby branches to help wrens in their nest building and courtship.

The box's entrance hole is perfectly sized for the industrious male wren, who initiates nest building and then sings to attract a mate. When a female responds, he shows her several nests he has built and she selects the one she prefers. Place nest boxes 4'-10' high on a tree or post.
Measures 7 1/2"H x 5 1/4"W x 5 1/4"D.

Wren nest box
Reviewed By: c ellen (portsmouth, ri)
I have had two of these boxes in my yard for three years. My yard attracts lots of birds, including wrens, but these boxes attract nothing but yellowjackets, year after year. Every year, I clean them out hoping for feathered residents, but no luck.

Had great luck with this wren box .Easy to hang and to clean. Very good price too.Hang a few to give Mr. Wren places to show his mate his nest building abilities.

Wren boxes

Be patient (and put up more wren boxes). Wrens like several boxes to choose from before setting up housekeeping. "Mr. Wren" will arrive in the yard first, supposedly to select the site. "Mrs. Wren" will show up and either confirm or deny his choice ... and make her own choice known. For years I had four wren houses in my yard - all the same style and all hung the same distance from the ground. Invariably, the birds fluttered around in and out of all boxes and always chose the same one year after year. The "chosen one" hung in a maple tree with the opening facing NE. I also hung the nesting boxes on a wire over a branch so that they could swing in the breeze. Mama wren was pretty social - if I tapped on the trunk of the maple tree, she would poke her cute little head out of the box to see what was up -- never for long - she was a dedicated mother. Another observation: wrens will choose the same nest box over and over and will remove the old nest and rebuild it each year. Be patient and offer more choices. I think the "swinging" option might be important for them. Good luck.
